Over 1,700 corps members have been deployed to Kwara State for the 21-day orientation course of the 2024 Batch C Stream 1 of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), which is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Yikpata Orientation Camp in Edu Local Government Area.
A statement issued on Sunday by Oladipo Morakinyo, Public Relations Officer of the Kwara State NYSC Directorate, revealed that over 300 officials from NYSC and other agencies will oversee the programme.
The NYSC management has directed that all orientation camps nationwide be opened on the same day for the incoming Batch C Stream 1. The orientation course aims to prepare corps members for their one-year mandatory national service, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to serve effectively.
“In Kwara state, the 21-day orientation programme is scheduled to be held at the NYSC orientation Camp, Yikpata, Edu Local government of Kwara state. About 1,700 Corps members are expected to participate in the orientation course.
“The exercise will be running at the same time, in all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“The registration of Corps members at the various camps will start as early as 8.00 am on Wednesday, 27th November, and stop by midnight on Thursday, 28th November 2024.
“NYSC management also uses this opportunity to appeal to all the mobilized Corps members to proceed to their respective camps as soon as the call-up letters are released,” the statement read.
Similarly, the statement added that over 300 camp officials have been deployed to execute the orientation programme in Kwara state.
“These camp officials are drawn from among the NYSC staff and other collaborating agencies, which include the Nigeria army, the police, the NSCDC personnel, the NDLEA,the Red cross society and the personnel of Citizenship and Leadership Training.
“The Swearing-in/ Official Opening Ceremony for the 2024 Batch C, Stream 1 orientation course will be coming up by 10.00 am prompt, Friday 29th November, 2024. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulrazak Abdulrahman will be presiding over the swearing-in ceremony, by delivering Mr President’s address and formally declaring the orientation course open.
Also, His Lordship, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, is expected to administer oath allegiance on the newly deployed Corps members.
“The State Coordinator, NYSC Kwara State, Mr Onifade Olaoluwa urges the good people of Kwara State to warmly receive the newly deployed corps members, most of which are likely visiting the “State of Harmony” for the first time. He equally appealed to members of the National Road Transport Workers Union, across the State, to assist the new Corps members locate their routes to the orientation camp,” the statement added.
“The State Coordinator also assures the newly deployed Corps members of their safety in Kwara State, during and after the orientation course.
He also informed the general public that the NYSC orientation Camp, Yikpata in Edu Local Government had been prepared and ready to host the patriotic Corps members.
“According to him, the various security agencies in kwara state are fully cooperating with the NYSC scheme, to host a hitch-free orientation programme in the state.
“He wishes the Corps members safe travels to their various camps and successful orientation courses”, the statement said.
