Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and eminent personalities of the Ilorin Emirate joined Muslim faithful to observe the two rakah prayers marking this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration at the Ilorin Central Praying Ground.
According to a news report from Daily Post, the prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, with the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, and traditional title holders in attendance.
After navigating through traffic gridlock and a crowd of cheering people typical of the day, the Governor and his entourage, including his brother and Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, arrived at the Eid prayer ground in a white coaster bus at exactly 9:40 AM.
He was welcomed by the large crowd and the crème de la crème of the Ilorin Muslim community, including title holders such as the former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki; former CJN Alfa Belgore; Zanna of Ilorin, Engr. Lanre Sagaya; Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Farouk Onikijipa; and many others.
In the Governor’s entourage were the Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central, Salihu Mustapha; House of Representatives members Ahmad Yinka Aluko and Mukhtar Shagaya; Kwara House of Assembly Leader Hon. Magaji and his colleagues from the House; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Abdulkadir Mahe; other cabinet members; and several party leaders and chieftains.
