Today, we spotlight the legislative duties of Senator Saliu Mustapha, the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the 10th Assembly.
Introducing bills, debating motions, and conducting oversight functions form the bedrock of a legislator’s responsibilities at the National Assembly.
One of the key bills championed by Senator Saliu Mustapha is the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act (Amendment) Bill 2024 (SB464).
This bill seeks to establish the Federal College of Agriculture in Oke-Oyi, Kwara State, by amending the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act.
This initiative, originally proposed by Turaki’s predecessor, stalled before the end of the 9th Assembly. It consequently had to be reintroduced in the 10th Assembly. This is in accordance with the rules of the Senate.
The enactment of this bill promises significant benefits for the Senatorial District, including enhanced agricultural education and research, the creation of hundreds of jobs, and overall economic development, aligning with the Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration’s objectives.
