One of the earliest bills introduced before the Senate by Senator Saliu Mustapha, is the National Food Reserve Agency (Establishment) Bill 2023 (SB 139). This bill was read for the first time on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
If passed into law, this bill will establish an agency tasked with creating and managing national food reserves. The agency will focus on rebuilding, expanding, and strengthening granaries across the country to efficiently manage food surpluses and prevent market gluts.
The establishment of this agency is expected to create a significant number of job opportunities nationwide, including within the Kwara Central Senatorial District.
This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in advancing national food security.
