The Kwara State Government has begun the reconstruction of the long-abandoned Patigi Regatta Motel in Patigi town, marking a significant step in its efforts to enhance tourism.
The reconstruction, slated to last eight months, will include new shopping areas and extensive parking space, according to the Honourable Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology (BIT), Damilola Yusuf. The revamped motel will feature standard rooms, VIP suites, a conference hall, restaurants, and courtyards.
“We have already handed over the site to the contractor,” Yusuf stated.
Situated along Kpada Road (Federal Road) and 1500 meters from Kusogi Park, the Patigi Regatta Motel is set for a comprehensive overhaul. This project aims to tap into the state’s tourism potential, create jobs, and boost revenue.
The Commissioner highlighted the motel’s strategic importance, especially with plans to revive the Annual Patigi Regatta and fishing festival, which will attract tourists and provide recreational opportunities in the region.
