Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has requested the approval of the Kwara State House of Assembly to increase the 2024 budget by N200 billion.
This adjustment will raise the state’s total budget to N493 billion, up from the initially approved N293 billion.
No specific reason was provided for the submission of the supplementary budget. Although there were expectations that this development might address the new minimum wage of N70,000, Daily Trust understands that nothing of such was raised or mentioned by the lawmakers during Wednesday’s plenary.
Contacted for further explanations, the SA to the Governor on legislative matters, Abdulgafar Ayilara, said he would have to go through the letter before making any comment.
Efforts to reach the SA Political to the governor, Bashir Adigun and the House Committee on Information, Hon Rukayat Shittu, were not successful as they did not answer calls made to their phones.
According to the Governor’s letter read by the speaker, Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, the total budget size, after review, now stands at N493,449,372,429.00, representing a 69% increase from the 2024 approved estimates of N292,741,292,132.30.
The revised capital expenditure estimate is now N178,905,088, 681.12 while the post review figure increased to N356,798,044,251.00 representing 99% increase.
