In honor of the Islamic New Year, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has declared Monday, July 8, 2024, a public holiday throughout the state. This decision marks the commencement of the new Hijrah Year, known as Muharram 1446 in the Islamic lunar calendar.
The announcement comes as the first day of Muharram 1446 is anticipated to fall on Sunday, July 7, 2024, aligning with various lunar calculations observed by the Muslim community.
Governor AbdulRazaq, in extending his wishes to Muslims across Kwara State, expressed a heartfelt recognition of the significance of the occasion.
