Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq officially launched a residents’ registration exercise on Monday, aimed at creating an accurate database to guide government developmental plans and bolster the security of lives and properties across the state.
Speaking at the event, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the significance of the initiative, noting that the database would not only enhance security but also aid in the equitable allocation of resources and ensure that citizens have access to essential social protection services, such as health insurance and government support across various demographics.
The Governor personally participated in the registration process, which was overseen by the Acting General Manager of the Kwara State Residents’ Registration Agency (KWASRRA), Tajudeen Jimoh. This public gesture underscores the importance of the exercise and the administration’s commitment to ensuring that every resident is accounted for.
Governor AbdulRazaq first introduced the concept of KWASRRA in December 2021, highlighting the need for accurate and comprehensive data on every individual residing in the state. This, he explained, is crucial for effective planning and meeting the diverse needs of the population.
“The formal commencement of the registration exercise today marks a significant step toward capturing the relevant data of every resident of Kwara State,” the Governor stated at the launch. “The goal is to establish a reliable data bank that will facilitate planning, resource allocation, and security measures. With this database, we can easily identify everyone living in our state, ensuring they benefit from social protection programs, government services, and improved security.”
Governor AbdulRazaq further explained that accurate data is essential for making informed decisions about the present and future needs of the state. “With the right data, we can plan for today and make fair projections for the future. We will know who is employed and who is not, allowing us to address other developmental challenges more effectively,” he added.
The Governor called on all residents to participate in the registration exercise at designated centers and times, stressing that their involvement is critical to the state’s sustainable growth and development.
The registration process will include biometric data collection, ensuring that each resident is assigned a unique identity, which will serve as a vital tool in the state’s planning and security efforts.
