The executive is one of the three co-equal arms of the Kwara state government, focused on policy-making and the implementation of laws. It is responsible for the daily administration of the state. The executive includes the Governor, deputy governors, and commissioners, along with other high-ranking officials such as the head of service.
The executive is headed by the Governor, who serves as the chief policy-maker and administrator of the state. The Governor is elected by the people of Kwara State and is responsible for the implementation of state laws & policies, overseeing the executive functions, and representing the state in external affairs.

The legislature also known as the state house assembly is the legislative arm of the Kwara state government whose responsibility is making laws and ensuring that the executive branch operates within the legal framework.
The legislative responsibilities include Law Making, Oversight, Budget Approval, and Constituent Representation and it consists of elected members from each constituency of the state. The judiciary is responsible for interpreting and applying the laws of the state, operating independently to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law in Kwara State. It is headed by the Chief Judge, who is appointed by the Governor with the approval of the House of Assembly. Distinguished members of the judiciary include the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Chief Registrar.

The Kwara State Executive Council, informally known as the Cabinet of Kwara State, is the highest formal governmental body in the state, headed by the Governor. It includes the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners overseeing ministerial departments, and the Governor’s special aides.
Function
The Executive Council plays a crucial role in the Kwara state government day in day-to-day activities by advising and directing the Governor of Kwara State. Comprising the Deputy Governor, appointed members, including Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Commissioners overseeing various ministerial departments, and the Governor’s special aides.
Its primary function is to provide guidance and support in the execution of governmental policies and decisions. Each member of the Executive Council holds the authority to implement policies within their designated areas of responsibility, contributing to the overall governance and administration of Kwara State.
