The 2024 edition of the state-wide free medical and surgical outreach has commenced today at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
This initiative is part of the State Government’s efforts to provide free healthcare to residents across various local government areas.
Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the Commissioner for Health, monitored the outreach centre at KWASUTH and expressed her gratitude to the health workers for advancing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s comprehensive healthcare agenda.
She was accompanied by Hon. Razak Owolabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Health and Environment, Deputy Chairman Hon. Medinat Abdulraheem, and other stakeholders, and was received by Dr Ahmed Bola, Chief Medical Director of KWASUTH.
Dr Musiliu Odunaya, Director of Medical Services and Training at the Kwara State Ministry of Health, praised the impressive turnout despite the heavy rain. He noted that patients requiring specific interventions, such as general surgery, eye surgery, and glasses, have been assigned to their respective caregivers for comprehensive treatments.
Hon. Razak Owolabi commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the initiative and the quality of services provided, which will be replicated in all sixteen Local Government Areas of the State.
The free medical and surgical outreach team is scheduled to move to Eruku in Ekiti Local Government Area on Thursday, 13th June 2024.
