The Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport has unveiled alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion as construction commences on the Post Office-Emir Road-Isale Oja Roads. This project is a part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s urban renewal initiative, aimed at improving infrastructure across the state.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, commuters are advised to utilize alternative routes including Taiwo Isale, Edun, Obo Road, Niger Road, Opomalu, Centre Igboro, Balogun Fulani, and Bolanta Roads to navigate the Ilorin metropolis during the reconstruction period.
“To facilitate the smooth commencement of the road reconstruction, we also urge residents to remove all vehicles from both sides of the construction routes,” Olododo stated. He acknowledged the potential inconveniences for commuters and residents, urging cooperation and patience as the government undertakes the development of resilient infrastructure.
“We appreciate His Excellency for committing to building safer, smoother, and more beautiful roads that will enhance our state’s economy,” Olododo added.
The dual carriageway on Emir’s Road, originally initiated by the Adamu Attah administration and completed by Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Olatinwo, is undergoing its first major reconstruction since the Olatinwo years.
The reconstruction is set to create a lasting legacy for Kwara State, significantly improving the quality of its road networks.
