Oyun Local Government Area is located in Kwara state, North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria with the headquarters of the LGA in the town of Ilemona. It has an area of 476 square kilometers and a population of 94,253 at the 2006 census.
The LGA comprises several towns and villages such as Erin-IIe, Ira, Igosun, Ojoku, Igbona, Inaja, Ikotun, Ijagbo, and Ipee. The Yoruba language is commonly spoken in Oyun Local Government Area, and both Christianity and Islam are widely practiced.
A notable tourist attraction in the area is the House of Oya in Ira. Additionally, the Egungun and Onimoka festivals are two significant cultural events celebrated in Oyun.
